The Novel coronavirus, or SARS-CoV-2, causes a condition known as COVID-19. This can cause similar symptoms to those of other respiratory conditions, such as allergies or flu.
Understandably we hear a lot these days about the Covid-19 symptoms (dry cough, high fever, etc.). Conversely, the virus as a symptom is much less discussed.
Here is a look at some of the symptoms associated with novel coronavirus:
- Fever
- Dry cough
- Shortness of breath
- Runny nose
- Sore throat
- Persistent pain or pressure in the chest
(In extreme cases)
- Pneumonia
- Severe acute respiratory syndrome
- Kidney failure
How is one Covid-19 tested?
The coronavirus test does not require any blood tests. Coronavirus screening involves checking the swab of the throat or nasal swab to screen for infection. Doctors posted at nodal hospitals will evaluate your physical health after taking samples to decide whether hospitalization is required. Otherwise, you may be forced to remain isolated in your own house. Unless the results are positive, you may need to stay quarantined before recovery for at least 14 days.
Which do you do if you want Covid-19 tested in India?
Contact the 24X7 helpline number for the Union health ministry: 01123978046. You can also mail your queries at ncov2019@gmail.com. You will be inspected immediately by the District Surveillance Officer and, if there are high risks of infection, you will be taken to a designated hospital for the check. Govt has put in separate ambulances to handle suspicious cases. Public transit use is not recommended.
